 Pentecost
The Easter season ends with the day of Pentecost. This takes place fifty days after Easter day itself and recalls the day in which God sent his Holy Spirit on the apostles long ago in Jerusalem. This day is the birthday of the Church. It is a day of great joy in which Christians celebrate God's presence within each believer to guide and strengthen them for their Christian pilgrimage through life. The liturgical colour for Pentecost is red to symbolise the flames of fire in which the Holy Spirit originally descended upon the early disciples of Jesus.
