Saints Days

Throughout the year the Church commemorates and celebrates those who have been especially noted for their faithfulness in the Christian life. Running throughout the year is the Calendar of Saints. Some of these are Christians mentioned in the scriptures - i.e. the Apostles, John the Baptist, the Blessed Virgin Mary etc, whilst others have lived at various points in history since Biblical times i.e. our patron St Columba, St Margaret of Scotland etc. By keeping these days Christians are asked to recall these special lives and be inspired by them, encouraged by their example and aided by their prayers.
